Why Aren’t All My Videos Showing in the Presentation Thumbnail Bar?

The thumbnail tray may appear to be missing files when a presentation viewer changes his or her browser display settings to allow for more visible screen space. All files are available, but the files are pushed out of the viewing area if the viewer has their browser zoomed out. This is not a bug in Wiredrive; it is a function of how Web browsers render the code per universal access settings.

How do I adjust my browser view settings?

The interface for reseting the zoom controls varies slightly from browsers to browser, but the basic process is the same for all platforms:

  1. Make sure your browser is the active window
  2. Select View > Zoom > Actual Size (or 100%)
  3. Mac users can also can press Command-0
  4. PC users can also Select > Page > Zoom > Actual Size (or 100%)

Understanding How Network Peering and Latency May Affect Your Wiredrive Experience

How does media in Wiredrive get to my computer?

When you or your clients request data from Wiredrive (e.g. video reels, file detail previews, file download, etc.), it travels from our CDN servers through a network of separate internet service providers (ISP). The data eventually reaches your ISP, which serves data through your network before hitting your own computer.

As your data travels through the Internet, different network hosts hand it off to the next host in a process called peering. The connectivity of the internet is dependent on these networks allowing data exchange between one another, and satisfactory peering from one ISPs network to another is what makes systems such as Wiredrive possible.

This is simply how the Internet works. Wiredrive uses a CDN to speed up this process by serving data through the fastest route available, but the vast majority of Internet traffic flows as directed by the system of networks.

Why Am I Getting an Expired Presentations Page?

The most common reason for receiving a Presentation has expired page is that the sender inadvertently expired access to your presentation (see Expiring Presentation Access for more). But clicking on a partially linked presentation URL will also redirect you to the Presentation has expired page:
Partially Unlinked Presentation URL
Some email applications will unlink part of the presentation URL as a security measure or simply because the link wrapped to the next line, which is the case in the screenshot above. You can copy the entire link and paste it into a new browser address bar to access the presentation:

Pasted URL

If pasting the full link into your browser sends you to the Presentation has expired page, contact the presentation sender to request a new presentation link.

Troubleshooting Performance Issues: Testing quality of your ISP

You can diagnose most performance issues following the three-step network troubleshooting process:

These diagnostic methods generally focus on connection speed, but you can also test the quality of your connection, which should be guaranteed by your ISP. Pingtest.net is a free, independent service for testing your internet connection quality. Pingtest.net is a neutral, third-party evaluation because tests do not run to Wiredrive servers.

Troubleshooting Your Connection: Pinging network servers

Pinging network servers (also called a latency test) is the third step in troubleshooting network issues when you are experience poor system performance. When you ping a server, your computer repeatedly sends a packet of data to the target IP and records the response time for each send. Make sure that you have tested your connection to Wiredrive, have ran traceroute and have noted your results prior to pinging network components.
