Sound design company Soundwell builds website on Wiredrive media RSS
Soundwell needed a quick and efficient way to present work. They also needed an easy-to-update website that mirrored the company’s dedication to quality. The new sound design company found both in Wiredrive.
When sound is well-designed, media consumers become immersed in the scene and develop a stronger connection to the story. Scrupulous commitment to the art of storytelling may be the reason why former Global Director of Sound at Elias Arts, Dean Hovey, calls his new sound design venture Soundwell. With thousands of sound design projects under his belt, Dean’s services are sought after for products and concepts of every kind.
“Our website, coupled with Wiredrive technology, gives us global reach. The walls have been torn down with Wiredrive.”
The differences that makes the difference
Starting Soundwell was Dean’s personal mission to create a new work paradigm of creative sound design without borders. Strategic creative alliances with creative heavy-hitters give Soundwell the ability to work face to face all over the world.
In addition to professional relationships, tools such as portable sound design systems also play a big part in providing excellent service. “We prefer to work as a direct part of your creative team wherever you are,” Dean said.
Unlike most companies that assign a single designer to each project, several Soundwell designers work in tandem to explore execution. The creative goal is to bring an array of perspectives to a project in order enhance the story line, a method that provides better results and speaks to Soundwell’s creative philosophy.
Wiredrive media RSS powers Soundwell.tv
Soundwell.tv is one of the first websites powered by Wiredrive using media RSS (mRSS) links. Standard RSS is commonly used to broadcast basic information over the Internet; usually text and a link to a website. But the mRSS specification enables more data types to be fed through an RSS URL, including video, images and metadata. Web designers can parse the raw data (videos, four different thumbnail sizes, and metadata) from mRSS links and incorporate it into a website.
Dean stressed the importance of a well-designed site and said powering Soundwell.tv with Wiredrive helps the company stay true to its creative goals. “One of the biggest reasons for having a website is that technology has created the reality of long distance, real-time service exchange. Our website coupled with Wiredrive technology gives us global reach. The walls have been torn down with Wiredrive.”
“If my company wasn’t Wiredrive-powered, we’d be steps behind our full potential. Its benefits have been immeasurable.”
Dean also likes the ability to instantly update Soundwell.tv by updating the Wiredrive presentation feed. “If I want to re-order, upload new items or insert a new article into our website’s news section, I log into my Wiredrive account and a few clicks later I’m finished. I go to my website and it’s there in seconds; truly incredible,” he said adding that “it’s so fast and flexible that I can’t imagine ever outgrowing it.”
MRSS is a free feature in Wiredrive that liberated Dean to explore website concepts that weren’t available through the conventional web development process. “We began our website development with a well-known company that was very expensive, seemed to lack vision and wasn’t very open to concept exploration,” he said. “When we first began exploring Wiredrive to power Soundwell.tv it seemed too good to be true. I immediately understood the vast potential.” Dean also said that Soundwell.tv is standing out from the crowd. “We’ve received many comments on our website; people seem to respond to its look, feel and concept.”
Wiredrive is the platform that keeps on giving
Having a website that’s simple to build and easy to administrate is only the tip of the iceberg. Dean said that Wiredrive has been a powerful tool and a technological step in the right direction for creative companies as a whole. “The Wiredrive experience has been revolutionary. I really wish this wonderful experience for all other creative companies.”
Soundwell is reaping substantial benefits from the Wiredrive platform. The sound design company is working faster, cutting costs and trimming unnecessary tasks from their business development efforts. “We’re able to send reels to our clients in very near real time without having to burn discs, pay for bulk package mailings or do follow up phone calls to check delivery status,” Dean said, adding that “the flexibility, speed and concept of Wiredrive has given us invaluable gains in efficiency. I now can’t imagine working without it.”
