So, the economy has thrown the advertising industry into a tailspin, but it’s not all doom and gloom. There are ways to take control of your personal brand and propel yourself to a new job; getting more creative work in the process. The only catch – it takes a bit of effort and confidence, as well as a website and the ability to carry on a conversation.

The insights shared at the August 26 SheSays meeting, which took place at the One Club in New York City, are powerful strategies for overcoming a fledgling economy. Three respected women in the creative industry shared their thoughts and strategies to successful self promotion.

Top 11 Ideas from Cannes Lions 2009

by Bill Sewell 07/15/09

This was my first time as a delegate at the Cannes Lions International Advertising festival. The schedule was packed with speakers, which literally left us with no time for lunch. After late night meetings, we usually didn’t have time for breakfast, either!

“Our crisis is bigger than your crisis” Fernando Vega Olmos, JWT

As an Argentinean, Fernando knows crisis and the creativity that can result. He was one of the funniest speaker at Cannes (along with the partners from last year’s interactive agency of the year Lean Mean Fighting Machine). He also had a great message: Use crisis to make necessary changes that you’ve been too afraid make. In particular, I appreciated his call to change jobs if you aren’t inspired, even if there are no real jobs available right now.

Círculo Creativo Now Powered by Wiredrive

It’s with great pleasure we announce the collaboration of Wiredrive with the US Creative Circle, the largest association of creatives which conglomerates the Hispanic community in the advertising industry.

With the launch of their new website, the Creative Circle has joined efforts with Wiredrive to promote the work of creative talents among the agencies in the Hispanic Market. Through our online presentation platforms, the association will showcase the best work of the Hispanic Agencies, keeping a constant flow of materials for open discussions among its members.

The Young Creatives contest provided the official start of this collaboration, where the winners will represent the association in the upcoming Cannes Advertising Festival in 2009. The contestants worked to create pieces for the Ad Council’s campaign against Buzz Driving. The pieces are showcase via Wiredrive, you can click here to see the work of the finalists in Film and Print categories.

With this join effort, Wiredrive is looking to fortify its relationship with the Hispanic Market by helping Circulo Creativo present prominent work of it’s member with the presentations platforms that we are known for as the standard in the industry.

Notes From Boards Creative Workshop San Francisco

This was the second Boards Creative Workshop that Wiredrive has sponsored. Held at the swanky Bimbo’s in San Francisco, the event was a great experience. Fom the speaker’s dinner Wiredrive sponsored to the event itself, it has been a tremendous experience learning about the ways in which technology and advertising have merged.
