Highlights From 2010 Creativity and Technology Conference
CAT_small2   The all-day Creativity and Technology (CaT) conference, which took place on June 10 in New York, was stuffed with sessions designed to highlight interesting uses of technology, developments in creative company business models, and emerging trends in creative media production. As with any conference, there were both lackluster moments, as well as inspiring discussions. We’ve boiled down the most interesting ideas in this article.

Post-digital session gets conference off to great start

A panel of people working in the so-called post-digital space opened the conference with interesting examples of how physical interaction is driving post-digital media. The panel set high expectations for the rest of the conference that, unfortunately, proved to be unmaintainable.

CaT Conference Panel: The future of 3-D media

CaT conference 2010 3-D TV sessionAt the 2010 Creativity and Technology conference in New York, AICP President Matt Miller presented a discussion about creating 3-D content for TV. Joining Miller was John Collins, President of VFX company Framestore, and Ed Ulbrich, President of Digital Domain’s Commercials Division and Corporate EVP. Miller framed the discussion around misconceptions about producing 3-D content. Not all of Miller’s questions yielded productive discussion, but the audience was able to glean a handful of insights from the session.

The June 10 Creativity and Technology (CAT) conference in New York started off strong with a panel called Making it Work in the Post-Digital World. Despite the presumptuous title, the session did not signal the end of the digital era, but marked an emerging version of digital media that no longer exists solely on the screen. In the so-called post-digital world, technology intersects with our physical surroundings to create new experiences. Wiredrive Workshop Series NY: Wiredrive mRSS integration

Wiredrive’s Workshop Series continued Thursday, June 10, in New York as part of the city’s Internet Week tech conference. The workshop, graciously hosted at the offices of sound and music company Mophonics, was Wiredrive’s second workshop about media RSS (mRSS) integration since May’s Los Angeles event. In both events, Creative Director David Funkhouser and Web Developer Adam Portilla discussed how to power your website with Wiredrive media and credits.

Video From Zoic Salon Series: Framing the Future


Wiredrive co-sponsored this spring’s Zoic Salon Series, Framing the Future, with the goal of helping to facilitate meaningful discussions within the creative community about topics that affect all of us. Wiredrive President Bill Sewell set the tone for the event, which brought together social futurists from the fields of technology, sustainability and design for a discussion about how technology is changing the way we live.

A full house of developers and producers stopped by Wiredrive for a presentation about using media RSS (mRSS) to integrate Wiredrive reels into a website. Guests enjoyed gourmet barbecue prepared by catering and personal chef service Fairweather before Wiredrive Creative Director David Funkhouser and Web Developer Adam Portilla shared their Wiredrive mRSS expertise.
