Erika Levy recently wrote an article for Producer Posts: Confessions of an executive producer, which is Epoch Managing Partner Jerry Solomon’s blog. The article is about her experience preparing for and attending the 2010 SXSW Interactive Festival. But it’s also about the advertising industry’s transition to the digital realm.
Those of us who are adopting new tools and media platforms are shedding our analog selves; but we’re not, and never will be, digital natives. We are digital immigrants: people struggling with varying levels of success to learn the language of emerging technology.

Arc90’s Richard Ziade and Tim Meaney gave a presentation at the 2010 SXSWi festival called Revenge of the Editorials, which was billed as a discussion about sifting through the massive amounts of content on the Web to have a meaningful experience. But what the experience company’s partners and lead strategists really offered was a call to action aimed at Web content producers to step up the quality of the content. Advertisers and entertainment companies hoping to take full advantage of the Web to promote their wares may find Ziade and Meaney’s advice useful.

He works with the DiSo Project, Data Liberation Front, Activity Streams and a number of other organizations to develop and promote open standards. His presentation at SXSWi focused on incorporating open Web standards that would allow interactive companies to change the way we approach displaying data. You can download his presentation Is It Getting Streamy In Here? from Slide Share.
